$20,000 Gift For South Brown Co Schools
05/16/2013

(KNZA)--What to do with a $20,000 donation?

That decision must now be made by the Board of Education for USD 430 following the donation to the South Brown County Schools.

It was gifted to the district in honor of 1940 Horton High School graduate Donald J. Scott.

Scott's son, William, recently spoke with Superintendent of schools, Doctor Steve Davies, saying the donation was being made on behalf of his late father.

Davies told the School Board Monday night that William Scott did not specify that any particular purchase should be made, or any official dedication conducted in honor of Donald Scott.

However, following discussion, the board, working from the recommendations of Doctor Davies, decided that a tribute would be proper, naming whatever they purchase in honor of Scott.

Under consideration for that purpose is a new scoreboard, a wireless computer system or a portable keyboard, or piano, to be used at high school concerts.

The board plans to make a decision on what will be selected in the near future, with Davies to further discuss the issue with William Scott prior to finalization.
