Falls City Council Approves Plat of New Subdivision
05/21/2013

(KTNC) - The Falls City, City Council, breezed through its agenda in about 15 minutes Monday night.
During the brief meeting, the council suspended the first two readings and approved the final reading of an amended nuisance ordinance.  The ordinance sets a time limit of 30 days for owners of properties deemed to be a nuisance to remove the nuisance.  The ordinance also allows the city to recoup the costs if it has to abate any nuisance.
The council approved the final reading of another ordinance to vacate part of Crook Street and Schoenheit Street north of 28th Street, and three 16-foot wide utility easements on the north side of 28th Street, for a new subdivision.
The Champion’s Crossing Subdivision is planned on about 23 acres south of the new hospital, near the Wilderness Falls development.  After approving the ordinance, the council then unanimously passed a resolution approving the plat and restrictive covenants of the new subdivision.
The Falls City Industrial Corporation had recommended approval of the resolution and restrictive covenants.
In other business, the council approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Justin and Monica Lechtenberg, owners of Tri-State Truck and Tractor, for a loan from the city’s LB-840 funds.  The loan amount is $30,000, at zero-percent interest over seven years.
The Citizens Advisory Review Committee had recommended approval of the loan.  The Lechtenberg’s are purchasing the business and will be moving to Falls City.
And the council approved, on a 7-1 vote, a request to rent Prichard Auditorium for a wedding reception on November 9th and to allow alcohol to be served.  The council also approved, also 7-1, a request to give favorable comment to a Special Designated Liquor License for the reception.
