Friends look on in shock and console family members affected by the fire.

(KAIR) -- An Atchison house is a total loss after a fire Tuesday morning.
 
The owners of the house at 320 North 11th Street, Beth and Rob Horvatic, along with their children, were not home at the time of the fire.
 
Fire Chief Mike McDermed says crews got the call just before nine when a Kansas Gas Service tech in the area noticed flames coming from the upper southwest side of the house at 320 North 11th Street. (Play Audio)
 
Part of the house collapsed about 30 minutes after the fire broke out.

 
McDermed says due to the amount damage, a cause may never be fully determined.

McDermed says the family had full insurance coverage on the home andwill be staying in the interim with family and has been placed in touch with the area Red Cross for further assistance.
 
Theatre Atchison has volunteered to be a drop-off location for citizens that have are interested in helping the family with toiletries, new items, gift cards or monetary contributions.
 
The theatre is open weekdays from nine until four.
