(KTNC) - A church in Stella is collecting items to donate to victims of the recent tornado in Moore, Oklahoma.
Rhonda Boeckman is the Associate Pastor at the Prairie Union Church, and says the congregation has experience providing donations after other natural disasters. (play audio :40 “move right in.”)
The church is looking for donations of new or gently used household items. Boeckman says, based on their experience after the Joplin tornado, beds were one item a lot of people needed. (play audio :35 “a big need.”)
She says they will also accept clothing donations – especially larger sized clothing. Boeckman says they do ask for items that are in good condition. (play audio :26 “ready to go.”)
Donations can be brought to a trailer set up in the old school parking lot in Stella on four days. Donations will be accepted from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, June 29, and again on Saturday, July 6; and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3 and Wednesday, July 10.
If the trailer isn’t full, Boeckman says they may schedule more collection days. She says they prefer items be brought to the collection site, but anyone who is unable to bring items to the drop-off site can make arrangements to have the donation picked up. Boeckman says a couple congregation members have volunteered to take the trailer to Oklahoma once it’s full.
Boeckman says the Stella church is coordinating the donation effort with a couple other churches, one in Joplin and another in Moore. (play audio :30 “is successful.”)
