DeKalb Mo Teen Sentenced in Deadly Crash
( KAIR )--A DeKalb, Missouri teenager has been sentenced to five years probation and about four months in jail for a deadly crash that killed a St. Joseph teen.
KQ2 News reports Buchanan County Judge Dan Kellogg handed down the sentence Monday to 17-year-old Dylan Pierce.
Pierce pleaded guilty in May to involuntary manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Cole Patrick. Authorities said Pierce was intoxicated when the pickup he was driving went off a road and struck a tree last December.
Patrick, who was a passenger in the truck, died at the scene. Pierce and another passenger, Brent Bush of DeKalb, suffered minor injuries.
The sentence also requires Pierce to get court approval to drive, maintain no no contact with the Patrick family and perform 250 hours of community service.
