Circleville Woman Sentenced to Prison in Child Sexual Abuse Case
07/19/2013

( KNZA )--A Circleville woman has been sentenced to more than 8 years in prison in a Jackson County child sexual abuse case.

County Attorney Shawna Miller says Tharesa Darnell was recently sentenced to a total of 100 months in prison on charges of kidnapping and lewd and lascivious behavior.

After her release from prison, Miller says Darnell will be on parole for 60 months and will have to register for life as a sex offender.

Darnell pleaded “no contest” to the amended charges in June.

She had originally been charged with five felony counts—including rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child, and aggravated criminal sodomy--based on allegations of abuse that occurred sometime in September and October of 2011.

Darnell was arrested last December by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.  The investigation, leading to her arrest, followed a report received by the sheriff’s office in September.

Wait, so her husband gets 25 to life, yet she gets to plead down to just 8 years?
