(KTNC) - A Tarkio woman was seriously injured in an accident Tuesday afternoon near Rock Port. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 136 two miles east of Rock Port, shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, when 92-year-old Elsie Rhoades swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle.
The Missouri State Patrol says Rhoades was driving east on Highway 136, when her car crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Rhoades swerved to avoid the collision and her car went off the road and struck a ditch, coming to rest on its wheels.
Rhoades, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by Life Net helicopter to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha with serious injuries.
The Rock Port Fire Department, Atchison County Sheriff’s Department, and Atchison County Ambulance assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
