(KNZA)--A tense time in a Hiawatha neighborhood Wednesday afternoon after a woman barricades herself inside a home, reportedly in the possession of a Claymore mine.
Beginning around 4:00, police blocked off the area of the 200 block of Hiawatha Avenue, requested that nearby neighbors evacuate, contacted an explosives specialist, and then made contact with the woman.
Police Chief John Defore says the situation came to a peaceful end less than an hour after it started. There was no explosive device, but the woman was armed with a large sword.
The woman, whose name is withheld, was not arrested, but taken for psychological treatment.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Brown County Sheriff's Department and Town and Country EMS.
