(KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners finalized a reassigned contract for the Preston Road Project with Constructors Inc. when they met Tuesday. Work on the project started August 12th and the company has 50 working days to complete the project to hard-surface the road.
The Board also approved right-of-way acquisition documents for the Humboldt Northwest bridge and Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert informed Commissioners the bridge located on Rose Street and 713 Road in Humboldt will be closed this week and the project will take up to four weeks to complete.
Commissioners conducted the quarterly jail inspection and found the facility to be in good order.
Andy Snyder with Smith Hayes and Associates provided an update on current bond rates and information for financing a possible jail facility project with a bond.
Commissioners also approved advertising for sealed bids for re-roofing the Armory Building with bids to be received by September 3rd at 11:30 a-m.
Budget reviews were held with the Sheriff, County Assessor, County Treasurer, County Attorney, Emergency Management Agency and the Cooperative Extension Service.
Road and Bridge Department Union representatives Randy Gilsdorf and Jim Olberding met with Commissioners to discuss their proposal for a new contract seeking a 2.5% pay raise in year one and a 3% raise in year two, adding an additional holiday for the County Fair or a floating holiday, increasing the paid time off to accumulate to 90 days and to increase the medical reimbursement amount from $650 to $1,250.
Commissioners countered, agreeing to a two year contract with pay increases of 2.5% each year, but no other changes from the previous agreement that expired June 30th.
The Board will meet with Union representatives again next week.
