(KNZA)--It didn't take long for a Jackson County jury to decide the fate of a 37-year-old accused rapist.
Clinton McKinney was recently convicted of rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, and furnishing a cereal malt beverage to a minor from events occurring on July 28th and August 26th of last year.
The now 17 year old victim, who's name and location is being withheld for her safety and privacy, testified that on July 28th, McKinney, who was staying with her family came into her bedroom and raped her. The victim, who was 15 years old at the time, also testified that on August 26th, McKinney provided her alcohol and then later that night forcefully committed aggravated criminal sodomy against her. Another eye-witness to the event interrupted, and law enforcement was called.
The jury deliberated for 45 minutes prior to the conviction.
McKinney is scheduled to be sentenced on October 11th in Jackson County District Court. He could receive anywhere from 147 to 653 months in prison.
