(KAIR)--A St. Joseph woman arrested shortly after police spotted a stolen cooler in the bed of the pick-up truck she was riding in, has seen her initial misdemeanor drug charge upgraded to a felony.
49-year-old Penny Ramsay now faces a felony charge of Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia after her Monday arrest on a District Court Warrant.
According to Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckelman, Ramsey had a prior marijuana conviction in Missouri, which led the charge being upgraded.
Ramsey was a passenger in a pick-up driven by Robert J. Grimmig, who was arrested on August 12th after police discovered what they believed was a stolen cooler in the back of the pick-up he was driving. The cooler had been reported stolen from the fairgrounds in Effingham. Grimmig faces a theft charge in connection with the incident.
Ramsay made her first appearance in Atchison County District Court Tuesday. Bond was set at $10,000. Ramsay is scheduled to appear with counsel on Monday.
