Humboldt City Council Discusses Problems at Tree Dump Site
08/23/2013

(KLZA) -- The Humboldt City Council approved use of City streets and parks for the Richardson County Fair and for a HTRS Booster Club run when they met this week.

Council members also approved a plan from the Humboldt  - Table Rock – Steinauer School District to fix a drainage problem from the parking lot west of the school in Humboldt.  The plan is to tile the lot and divert the runoff into the storm sewer and keep the water and dirt from running into the street.

The Council also approved an ordinance, on second reading to bring the hours alcohol can be sold in Humboldt establishments in line with state statutes.

Council members also approved a 1.8 percent increase in the agreement with PeopleService, the company providing the water and waster water services for Humboldt.  The annual cost will be $111,684.

Show Cause hearings have been scheduled for 6:30 p-m Tuesday evening, August 27th at the City Clerks Office for 10 people that requested hearings after they received nuisance notices from the City of Humboldt.

City Clerk Laflin said the Council is also looking at ways to deal with persons bringing items to the tree dump that are not allowed. Items such as railroad ties, boards with nails, couches and sheet rock have been discarded at the site intended only for tree limbs, branches and yard waste.
