( KNZA )--Verizon wireless continues its Kansas expansion, activating a new cell site in the Brown County Community of Horton.
According to a press release from the telecommuications company, the new cell site will provide additional network coverage and capacity in the Horton area, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones for calls, texting and internet.
Additionally, the expansion will provide enhanced 3G voice and 4G LTE data coverage in the City of Horton, expecially in the downtown area as well as along Highways 73 and 159.
This latest improvement comes on the heels of Verizon's expansion into the Atchison area, and is part of the company's ongoing growth. Since Verizon Wireless was formed in 2000, the company has invested more than $542 million in improvements to its Kansas network, bringing widespread coverage to the state's top 150 towns.
