(KTNC) - Black Hills Energy is opening enrollment for a program that allows customers to lock in the price of the natural gas portion of their bill every month for one year.
Enrollment for the company’s Annual Price Option program opens online today (Thursday) at www.annualpriceoption.com. Customers can sign up through a toll-free phone number, 800-753-7509, beginning September 10.
The program is for residential customers only and is open on a first-come, first-served basis until October 10 or until 12,000 participants have enrolled. The program will be in effect from November 1, 2013 through October 31, 2014.
Enrollment in the APO guarantees that the natural gas portion of a customer’s bill will stay the same each month for a year. Monthly bills will still increase or decrease based on how much natural gas a customer uses.
Customers are not required to sign up for the APO program. Black Hills officials say they also have a budget billing option that takes the seasonal peaks out of natural gas bills for a more even monthly payment.
Black Hills Energy serves 196,000 natural gas customers in 106 eastern Nebraska communities.
