(KAIR)--MGP Ingredients stockholders were set to meet and cast their votes last week at their annual stockholders meeting at the Theater Atchison, but a decision by a Kansas Appeals court to stay that meeting put a stop to it. However, that is not stopping the Cray group, which is fighting for control of the company they have been with for over seventy years. Board member Karen Seaberg says they officially filed with the court to have the ninety day stay shortened or stopped completely. The group also has other plans in place as a backup. Board member Karen Seaberg says that if the court does not agree with their petition to halt the stay, then they are asking them to order the company to do nothing but the normal course of business. Which means no hiring, firing, or other changes.
Seaburg is certain that those who voted with her group will keep their vote the same, and if for some reason they change their vote, they still have sixty percent, which is still an overwhelming majority. She thinks that the result is a forgone conclusion.
The group has also started a petition at change.org in an effort to get the current leadership to resign. Seaberg says that the last time she checked, they had gotten well over one hundred signatures and were still getting more.
