(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has adopted a 2014 budget of nearly $14.4 million that calls for a slight increase in the property tax levy.
The budget was adopted following a hearing Tuesday. County resident Philip Tangeman was present for the hearing and asked commissioners to explain where the money in the 2014 budget will be spent. Commissioners addressed the questions Tangeman had concerning the budget.
The budget contains an estimated tax rate of 50.78 mills, up about two-tenths of a mill from this year’s budget. The mill levy is to generate nearly $6.4 million.
Following discussion, the commission voted to appropriate $45,000 to the city of Sabetha for the building of a new ambulance barn, an additional $45,000 to the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital for the addition of an ambulance port, and an additional $10,000 to the city of Centralia for ambulance barn housing.
The money will be paid out of the Broxterman Estate EMT support fund for Nemaha County.
