Bid Awarded for Richardson Co Courthouse Restoration Work
10/02/2013

(KLZA) Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday awarded a bid for restoration of portions of the Richardson County Courthouse in Falls City.

Two bids were received for the work,  one from Restoration and Waterproofing Constructions in Topeka in the amount of $127,562.  The second from Masonry Construction Inc. of Bellevue for $353,313.

The Commissioners voted unanimously to award the bid to the low bidder.  A specification proposal will be drafted by architect Dennis Lyon for the restoration of the light poles and bases on the Courthouse east and west entrances for a later bid date.

Members of the Veterans Service Committee met with Commissioners questioning the idea of consolidating the Veterans Service Offices in Otoe, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson counties.  Present were Dick Arington, Brian Palmer, Ken Coonce and James Beckner.

Last week the Pawnee County Board indicated they were not in favor of such a change at this time.

The Board approved the purchase of a 2004 Ford Excursion from Hullman’s Ford for the Emergency Management Agency at a cost of $10,000.
