Nebraska Has New License Plate Renewal System
(AP) -- The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles has launched a new statewide license plate renewal notice.
The DMV estimates that it will mail about 2.1 million notices annually, using a new automated method. Previously, the work was done by individual county treasurer offices that printed postcard-sized notices.
The new notices will be mailed in a large window envelope that shows the county treasurer's name and address. The letter-sized form will include messages specific to each county and vehicle. It also will mention that license plates can be renewed online.
Rhonda Lahm, the department's director, says the new approach will help streamline the process.
