Pawnee City Council Approves Rezoning Request
10/31/2013

(KTNC) - The Pawnee City Council approved a request to rezone a parcel of land during a short meeting Monday night.
The council approved a request from Robert and Sherri Smith to rezone land extending south of Smith Auto to Highway 8 from agricultural to industrial.  The Planning Commission had approved the request last month.
The council also approved several items pertaining to the city’s Housing Rehab Grant.  That includes resolutions authorizing the mayor to enter into contracts with the Department of Economic Development and SENDD.
Pawnee City will get funding to rehabilitate 10 homes in 2014.  Final applications will be sent after the first of the year to those who have completed pre-applications for a housing grant.  The city has received 26 pre-applications thus far.
In other business, the city council met with Andrew Synhorst and Evan Wickersham with JEO Consulting regarding issues with the Sewer Plant.  There has been an ongoing problem with the ballast in the plant’s U-V System.
Synhorst explained that the U-V system is a disinfectant, removing e-coli from the water.  He said the system is used primarily during spring and summer and is not in use now.
The city is working with the company that manufactured the system to fix the problem.
