(KAIR)--Commuters on US 59 may experience a slight delay Sunday as a portion of the highway is scheduled to be closed so that crews can work on the city's electrical system. According to a release from Westar, the portion of highway 50 near 14th Street will be closed intermittently as upgrades continue on the electrical system. The work is set to start Sunday morning at 6:00 and is expected to be complete by 10:00 that morning. Crews will close the highway to traffic as the old transmission line conductor that spans across the highway is removed.
The work is part of a project to upgrade Atchison's electrical system and will continue throughout the year. Power outages from this work are not expected.
