(KAIR)--Now that the demolition on the former US59 Amelia Earhart bridge is complete, the new bridge can finally show off it's impressive light display. Kimberly Qualls with the Kansas Department of Transportation says that the lights have been in place for some time, but the recent demolition of the former bridge made it necessary to limit their use.
Qualls does say that the planned show will really show off what the lights on the bridge are capable of. The display will not only show all of the light colors, but how many different ways the bridge can be lighted, such as for special days and special events.
The show will start at 6:00 Wednesday evening and run for about 10-20 minutes. In case of inclement weather, the show will take place Thursday evening at 6:00.There will be no impacts to traffic on the bridge during the light show.
The city of Atchison is responsible for controlling the light display on the new bridge.
