Falls City Restaurant Plans Free Thanksgiving Meal
11/07/2013

(KTNC) - Many people will enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends in three weeks.  Others may not may not want or be able to prepare a traditional feast.
A Falls City restaurant hopes to fill the void by offering a free Thanksgiving dinner.  Greg Strickland is the owner of the Breezy Hill Café, south of Falls City on Highway 73 and says they’re hosting the meal as a way to thank the community.
The buffet-style meal will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and he says it will include turkey, ham, and all the trimmings - including a salad bar and pumpkin pie.  He says volunteers will help serve the meal.
Strickland says the meal is targeted towards single people who might not cook for themselves, those who don’t have family in town, and those who might not be able to afford a nice dinner…though he says everyone is welcome.
While the meal is free, Strickland says they will accept donations that will be split between the local food pantry and the Richardson County Humane Society.
Strickland says people have already offered to donate food – including at least six turkeys – for the meal.  He says he did something similar at a restaurant he owned in Cozad, Nebraska.
