No Injuries in Rollover Accident that Closed Jefferson County Highway
A rollover accident north of Oskaloosa Monday morning shut down a major highway for around an hour and a half. Just before 9 a.m., a semi-tractor trailer hauling a drainage pipe rolled over on US-59 highway, two to three miles north of Oskaloosa in Jefferson County. Traffic was re-routed on local country roads while crews removed the vehicle. The Kansas Department of Transportation reported the highway reopened shortly before 10:30 a.m. According to Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig, it was a county vehicle that was driven by a county roads department employee. The driver was not injured in the accident. He said the truck was totaled and the trailer that caused the backup was undamaged.
