(KLZA)--28-year-old Juan Ramirez Jr. has been arrested on charges of assault by strangualtion and third degree domestic violence.
Ramirez, a Wahoo Police officer allegedly beat and strangled a 39-year-old woman at her home in Pawnee County on Friday.
Ramirez was arrested in Lincoln Monday and is being held in the Lancaster County jail, awaiting extradition to Pawnee County.
The victim alleges Ramierz was at her home Friday and started to go through her phone. KOLN TV in Lincoln reports an arrest affidavit indicates Ramierez disliked one of the victims friends and an argument started.
It's alleged Ramierz called her a name then strangled her. She lost consciousness. The victim had a large bruise on her head and an injury to her neck along with bruising to her chest, arms, wrist, legs and shoulder.
Ramirez Jr. was formerly a member of the Falls City Police Department.
