17 year old Nathan Purcell of Falls City appeared in Richardson County District Court Tuesday for a hearing on his motion to transfer his case to Juvenile Court.
Purcell is charged with a class IV felony of theft by unlawful taking or disposition involving a motor vehicle; a class IV felony charge of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest; and a class III felony charge of burglary.
Judge Daniel Bryan granted to motion to move the case to Juvenile Court.
The charges stem from December 4th, 2011 when Purcell allegedly fled when a Nebraska State Patrolman attempted to stop the pickup Purcell was driving on suspicion the vehicle was stolen. The pursuit went through Falls City, into Brown County, Kansas all the way to Hiawatha and then back to Richardson County. Purcell was apprehended after running the truck into a ditch and fleeing on foot.
In addition Purcell is suspected of a burglary at Cross Winds Restaurant and the Falls City Country Club.
Previously Purcell had entered a not guilty plea to the charges and a jury trial had been scheduled for March 7th.
