A second candidate declared interest in running for the District 3 County Commission seat in Richardson County.
Michael Wintz of Verdon filed papers today (Monday) with the Richardson County Clerk to seek the position. He joins current Dawson Village Board member Phil Fisher as candidates. Fisher is running as a write-in candidate, as he did not file before the February 15th incumbent filing deadline.
Current District 3 Commissioner Bill Ely is not seeking another term on the Board.
The filing deadline for non-incumbents to have their name placed on the May primary election ballot in Nebraska is 5:00 p.m. Thursday.
