03/12/2014

(KLZA) -- The Auburn School Board has approved a $100 refundable fee for students to attend Summer School.  Superintendent Kevin Reiman says the fee serves as an incentive for all parties involved. Students receive the help they need;  if the course work in completed during the three week session the fee is refunded and the school district receives state aid for the program.

The Board accepted the resignation of elementary teacher Nancy Kite who is retiring.  A policy of nepotism was also approved.  The Superintendent says is rural districts it is not uncommon for family members to work for the school district.

Earlier this year the Auburn School Board approved starting an FFA program. Monday night they voted to hire Ashton Bohling as a High School / Middle School Ag Teacher. Bohling currently teaches at Conestoga and has experience starting up a program at an Omaha school.

Board members also approved April 25th as a Student non-attendance / Staff In-service Day when Auburn hosts the District Music Contest.  A proclamation for School Libraries Month was also approved.
