Nemaha NRD Board Discusses Shubert Water Wells
11/18/2015

(KLZA)-- Several residents from the Village of Shubert were on hand at the Nemaha Natural Resources District regular meeting Thursday, November 12, to express concerns and learn more about some water issues in their community.

In October a study was completed on potential well interference between new, nearby irrigation wells and the Shubert public water supply wells. It was noted that the aquifer where all these wells are located has limitations, but to what extent each affects the other is still somewhat uncertain. There was some agreement that there should be more investigation into the Village wells to make sure they are operating as efficiently as possible. In addition the District would install transducers in those wells to provide additional measurements on a regular basis. The District may also work with the public water supplier to come up with an emergency plan to use in the event of a water shortage.
