The Peru State College Softball team assured themselves of the fifth seed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference post-season tournament, with a sweep of Benedictine College Saturday.
Brittany Hoock hit a three-run homerun in the top of the sixth inning to give the Bobcats a 5-2 victory in the first game.
Peru State held on for a 3-2 victory in game two.
With the wins, Peru State improved to 9-7 in the conference and 27-21 overall this season.
The Bobcats will play their final regular season games on Tuesday when they travel to Lamoni, Iowa to take on Graceland University in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
The HAAC post-season tournament is scheduled for Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28, if necessary. The quarterfinals, featuring a best two-of-three series, will be held at the home field of the higher seeded team. It appears now that Peru State will travel to Baldwin City, Kansas, to face Baker University, which has locked up the number four seed.
