Highland Community College softball team fell to Iowa Western in their final two regular season games after winning 21 straight before that. After taking down Coffeyville Community College back on April 28th in the first round the action in two games (13-1 and 15-2), the national ranked Scotties advanced on to the second weekend of district tournament play. The eighth ranked Scotties matched up with Brown Mackie College in the double-elimination tournament and took them down 2-0, then meet up with Johnson County Community College on Saturday, also. It was a tough matchup that went into extra innings but the Scotties pulled out the win 4-3 in 11 innings.
Johnson County went on to win its next game to meet up with Highland once again, this time the Scotties dispatched Johnson County with a final of score 3-1. The Scotties finished the district tournament without a defeat in the tourney and advance on to the National NJCAA Division II tournament on May 17th-19th at Traceway Park in Clinton, Mississippi.
