Prairie Hills USD 113 is seeking applications for a vacant position on the board of education.
The vacancy was created by the death last month of longtime board member Roger Brockhoff, who held position 2.
The board voted at their meeting Monday to declare the position open and advertise for two consecutive weeks for applications.
After that, the board will review the applications and then appoint someone to fill the position. The person appointed will serve until the next election in April 2013.
The board asked that anyone interested contact the district office in Sabetha for information.
Also Monday the board elected Ed Reznicek as board president to replace Brockhoff. Brent Lortscher was elected as vice-president, replacing Reznicek.
