The Nebraska Primary Election is Tuesday, and Secretary of State John Gale is offering guidelines for voters.
Gale says if you plan to vote on Tuesday, you should check your voter registration and polling place. You can contact your county’s election office to determine your polling location.
If you’ve moved within a county, out of your former precinct, and have not updated your registration, you should go to the polling place associated with your current residence. You’ll be required to vote a provisional ballot.
Proper identification, showing your current address, is required if you recently registered to vote by mail. Other voters do not need to show identification at the polling place.
If you are registered without a party affiliation, you will receive a nonpartisan ballot. Nonpartisan voters may request a Republican or Democratic Party ballot for U.S. Senate and House races, or a full Libertarian Party ballot.
Gale also says you should maintain proper decorum at the polls, and turn off cell phones. Campaign items such as buttons, stickers and t-shirts are not allowed at polling places, and it is illegal to campaign within 200 feet of a polling site.
Polls will be open form 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
