Area athletes shine in the Division II 8-man All-Star game this past Saturday. As the East squad featured 10 TVL players on the roster and was coached by Baileyville-B&B coach, Justin Coup.
It would be the East team running away with the victory 56-24 over the West team in the Division II game. But early it looked like the West was in control as they took the opening kickoff 73-yards for a TD, then scored another to lead 16-0 after a pair of successful 2-point conversation with the TD’s.
After that the East team would open the flood gates and score 46 unanswered points and go on to win the game 56-24.
The B&B Falcon trio of Eric Huerter, Cody Heiman and Mitch Engelken combined for a huge portion of the offense for the East squad.
Huerter was 8-18 passing for 78 yards & 4 TD’s, also ran for 72 yards on 10 carries; while snatching up 2 interceptions on defense. His teammate Heiman ran for 73 yards and caught a 17-yard TD pass. While Mitch Engelken, ran for 233 yards on 20 carries with 3 TD’s (longest TD run of 64 yards); his 233 yards unofficial All-Star game record.
Frankfort Wildcat, Tight end, Jonathan Keating also had a good offensive day grabbing 6 passes for 14 yards and a TD. East offense finished with 529 yards of total offense; while the West team was held to 198 yards of total offense.
Many other area TVL athletes competed in the Division II All-Star game; while 2 other area TVL athletes competed in the Division I game for the East squad, which lost their game 36-0 to the West.
