A resurfacing project began today ( Wednesday ) on a 17-mile stretch of K-192 in Jefferson and Leavenworth Counties.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says K-192 will be resurfaced from the junction with US-59 in Jefferson County to the junction with US-73 in Leavenworth County.
The project includes the milling away of one-inch of existing pavement followed by the application of a two-inch overlay of new asphalt, along with new pavement markings.
Work will take place during daylight hours, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday.
Eastbound and westbound K-192 will be reduced to one lane in both directions along with intermittent closures of adjacent cross roads during the project.
Traffic will be directed through the work zone via a pilot car and flagger operation. There will be a posted speed limit of 40 mph and a 12-foot lane width restriction.
Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible.
Herzog Contracting Corporation of St. Joseph, MO is the primary contractor on the $1.8 million project.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in late July, weather permitting.
