Frankfort Bashed Out 17 Hits on Their Way to a 11-5 Win over Royal Valley

Frankfort pounded out 17-hits in the 11-5 victory at home last night over Royal Valley, taking control of the game early by plating three-runs in the first inning after successfully getting the first four batters on the base that inning. Royal Valley would get one run back in the third, off an RBI double from Travis Burget. Frankfort then answered with two runs of their own in the third. Things will start to open up score wise in the fourth as Frankfort had five two-out hits to score three-runs in the fourth, sparked by the two-RBI triple, from Brett Burdiek. Royal Valley went on to score two runs of a pair of doubles in the fifth from Zack Lux and Burget (his second RBI double of the game). But just like throughout the rest of the game Frankfort would have an answer notching two more in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Royal Valley finished the night with five runs on seven-hits, with Burget going 2-3 with two RBI's, off of two doubles. Erich Weidmann also went 2-3 for Royal Valley, scoring two runs. Frankfort's offense was packed with punch on the night, with the most notable performances coming from Alex Surdez and Burdiek. Surdez went 3-4 with two runs scored and two RBI; while Burdiek went 3-4 with a triple, three runs scored, three RBI and reached on an error. Burdiek's performance and spark to the Frankfort lineup earned him the McDonald's "Player of the Game" honors. Surdez, Cody Huerter and Lucas Adams combined for the pitching victory for Frankfort.

Frankfort improved to 5-5 (3-1 league) with the home win and will be off until the host Holton for a double-header on the June 20th. Royal Valley fell to 5-7 (3-4 league) with the loss and will gear up to participate in the Wamego tournament next starting on Saturday.
