4th Annual Dale Campbell Blood Drive Monday
06/22/2012

The Atchison area American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive Monday honoring an Atchison business leader tragically killed in an accident five years ago.

The 4th annual Dale Campbell blood drive will be at the Heritage Conference Center from two until six.

Campbell died as a result of being struck by an automobile while on his bicycle.

Immediately after the accident, Campbell received several units of blood as he fought for his life.

Dale’s son, Andrew, says that’s why they felt a drive in his honor was appropriate.

Each year, 60 to 100 units of blood have been collected.

The Red Cross says Blood donations are down in the first five months of 2012.

They say there is an urgent need for types O negative and positive, B negative and A negative donations.
