The law enforcement agreement negotiations between Pawnee County and the City of Pawnee City are continuing. Monday night the City Council turned down a counter offer of a four-and-a-half percent increase paid to the County for law enforcement services. During Tuesday’s meeting of the Commissioners the City / County Law Enforcement Agreement was discussed again. Commissioner Jan Lang and Sheriff Jayme Reed will go back to the next Council meeting and offer an agreement on a three-percent increase.
Originally the County proposed a six-percent increase for each of the next three years. The City countered with a three percent increase.
In other business Commissioners voted 2-0 with Commissioner Brad Stake abstaining to have Commissioner Stake and Candice Tuxhorn prepare the Pawnee County budgets for the 2012-13 fiscal year.
The Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging is requesting the same amount of funding from Pawnee County for the new fiscal year as the current fiscal year. Larry Ossowski said the amount if $520. He said the organization is serving around 300 people in Pawnee County. Commissioners approved the funding request.
County Attorney Victor Faesser met with the Board regarding liquidating the funds for the Hauner Estate funds for Pawnee County. Commissioners directed Attorney Faesser to send a letter to the estate attorney instructing the liquidation of the REIT funds.
Scott Bodie and others presented a letter /petition concerning a bridge located 3 miles north of Summerfield, Kansas, then 3 miles west and a half mile back north. The State ordered the bridge closed. The County is planning to replace the bridge with a couple of tubes. The proejct is on the One Year Road Plan.
