(KAIR) -- A 52-year-old Lansing Correctional Officer is facing burglary and arson charges in Atchison County.
According to Atchison County Undersheriff Larry Myer, Terry Botkin was arrested just after one Monday morning by deputies for allegedly driving under the influence.
Botkin was able to bond out later in the day, but authorities later learned a building at 9336 Jewell Road in rural Lancaster had been broken into and a generator set on fire. Myer said there was also an attempt to set fire other items in the building, including vehicles.
After further investigation, the Sheriff’s Department alleges that Botkin was the individual that committed the burglary and arson just prior to being stopped earlier that morning.
Botkin was arrested at his Farmington home around 10 o'clock Monday night.
He remains in Atchison County Jail awaiting bond and formal charges.
