(KAIR) -- Jefferson County Commissioners have approved a notice to publish the 2013 budget.
The proposed budget will be at just over 70 mills, a two point one six three mill increase from last year.
One mill equals 148 thousand dollars.
A public hearing on the published numbers will be September 24th at two at the County Commissioner room.
Also on Monday, 911 Director Susan Newell met with the board for possible consolidation of the 911 Communications and Emergency Management departments with the Sheriff’s office.
She understood the change may take effect in 2014, however, she indicated she was informed by the Sheriff’s office personnel that it would take place in 2013 with significant changes to staffing and procedure.
Commissioners clarified that it’s something to work toward in 2013 and that those rumors didn’t reflect the board’s intent.
