(KTNC) - If you’d like to see the Peru State football stadium in its current state, you’ll have one more chance this Saturday when the Bobcats host Central Methodist University.
A ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony will take place following the football game, at approximately 4:00 p.m., as final preparations are made for the start of the $15 million project to renovate the Oak Bowl. The groundbreaking will take place near the scoreboard in the area south of the end zone.
All Peru State alumni, coaches, and boosters have been invited to the event, and area residents are also invited to attend.
A busy day is planned at Peru State, in addition to the football game. Twenty-one Bobcat senior football players will be honored, along with their parents, prior to the game. Football alumni and coaches present will be recognized at halftime.
The Bobcat volleyball team will be in action at 4:30 Saturday afternoon, also hosting Central Methodist. The volleyball team will host its “Dig Pink Day.” The Campus Activities Board is encouraging all fans to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
Volleyball seniors and their parents will be honored Saturday afternoon.
In addition, two student organizations will be hosting functions during the football game. The Student Athlete Advisory Council will hold its 4th annual Make-a-Difference Day event. All fans are encouraged to bring cold weather items such as cough drops, toothbrushes, mittens, hats, and cold and flu medicine. Cash donations will also be accepted. Donations will be given to Project Response, which serves a five county area in southeast Nebraska.
And the Phi Alpha Theta student organization will sell chili, chili dogs, and cookies during the game to raise funds for their trip to the next presidential inauguration.
