UNL Extension Meetings will Provide Information on CSAs, Farmer's Markets
(KTNC) - A series of meetings in Falls City this month may be of interest to local gardeners looking to make some extra money.
University of Nebraska Extension is sponsoring the meetings. Richardson County Extension Educator Lindsay Chichester says Nemaha County Extension Educator Gary Lesoing (less-OH-ing) and Vaughn Hammond with the Kimmel Education and Research Center will provide information about Community Supported Agriculture and Farmer’s Markets. The sessions will explain what CSAs and Farmer’s Markets are, and the difference between the two. (play audio :19)
Chichester says she’s not aware of any full-grown local CSAs, though some people do pieces of what a traditional CSA is. (play audio :44)
Four meetings are planned, all at the Falls City Library and Arts Center. The first session will be on Thursday, November 8, with other sessions will be held on Thursday, November 15, Tuesday, November 20 and Tuesday, November 27. Meetings will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. each day. There is a five-dollar charge per session, or a $15 charge to attend all four sessions, to cover materials and mileage for the speakers.
