Grantville Citizen Discusses Damage from Train Accidents
11/26/2012

(KAIR) -- A Grantville citizen called into the Jefferson County Commissioners meeting last week to discuss damage incurred by two train incidents that happened by his property, including a recent derailment.

Dan Smalley said the accidents caused emergency vehicles to damage his driveway and yard, claiming that they have not been the same since the first accident in 2007.

He also had concerns on the condition of Front Street.

Commissioners responded by planning to have the Road and Bridge Superintendent to assess Front Street.

They also said that Smalley should contact the railroad for his property and says the railroad company should compensate him for any work that should be done.

The board also requested Emergency Management Director Doug Schmitt to go assess the damage for the fourth time.
