(KAIR) -- The Christmas season abounds with joy. Brightly wrapped packages, Christmas trees, holiday parties, holly and the scent of pine, and visits from friends and family.
Yet each year some people dread the holiday season and know this Christmas will be a hard one.
The Atchison United Methodist Church invites the community to a “Blue Christmas” worship service on Sunday evening at seven at the church on 501 Kansas Avenue.
Pastor Cindy Meyer says this is the first year the church has offered this service.

The service is also meant for health care, nursing home, and mental health care workers, law enforcement and emergency responders, recognizing the burdens they carry throughout the year.
