911 Phone Service Restored
01/29/2013

(KNZA)--An apparent fiberoptic cable break is to blame for Monday's large phone service outage affecting much of northeast Kansas.

Reported around 1:45 in the afternoon, the outage left area law enforcement communication centers without 911 emergency service, with both cell phones and landlines affected.

As of early this morning, service had been restored to the majority of customers, including the 911 operations.

Local communication centers affected included those in Brown, Jackson, Jefferson and Pottawatomie Counties.
