(KAIR) -- Many citizens traveling through parts of Atchison this week have been slowing down due to heavy equipment blocking parts of the streets.
That’s because new light poles are being installed in an effort to improve not only the lighting of the area, but its appearance.

That’s City Manager Trey Cocking.
He says, weather permitting, the pole project is expected to be complete within a month.
Cocking also adds that the city cost for the replacement is minimal and Westar is paying for the installation of the new poles.
