Atchison Library Gets Citizen Input on Renovations
02/05/2013

(KAIR) -- Around a dozen people gave input on what they would like to see changed in the Atchison Library Monday night.

A consensus of the crowd agreed that lighting needed to improve in some parts of the library, as well as an area used downstairs for meetings for around a dozen community organizations.

Youth Services Librarian Holly Hutchinson and Library Director Gary Landeck say an improvement to that area could get more organizations interested in meeting at the library.

Another citizen says spaces for different age groups need to have more balance.

The ideas will now go to architects Hans Fischer and David Dunfield, who referred the library as “a good building,” for design.

Fischer, who has 45 years experience designing libraries all over the state, says any renovation must be ready to adapt to the future of libraries.

Landeck says another presentation with the designs is expected later this spring.
