(KAIR) -- The Command and General Staff Officers Class 13-02 begins Monday, at Fort Leavenworth with the International Flag Ceremony.
The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. in the Eisenhower Auditorium at the Lewis and Clark Center followed by a welcome address from Lt. Gen. David G. Perkins, CommandingGeneral of the Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, and Commandant of the Command and General Staff College.
The International Flag Ceremony features the posting of national colors recognizing the 46 international officers from 44 countries who will attend Class 13-02.
The international students join a class of more than 300 who are mostly Army majors but include officers of equivalent rank in the Navy and Air Force.
The Command and General Staff Officers' Course is the Army's education program for mid-career officers to prepare them to serve in command and staff positions as majors and lieutenant colonels.
In addition to completing the course, students have the opportunity to earn a Master in Military Art and Science degree conferred by the college that is a fully accredited institution.
