Johnson-Brock School Board Approves Principal, Superintendent Contracts

(KTNC) - The Johnson-Brock Board of Education held its February meeting Monday afternoon.  The meeting was held earlier in the day than normal due to the Eagles’ girls’ sub-district basketball game at Wilber Monday evening. 
 Superintendent Jeff Koehler says the early meeting time gave School Board members a chance to walk through the school building during the school day.  (play audio  :24)
 Koehler says the Johnson-Brock School District has healthy enrollment numbers in most grades.  (play audio   :45)
 There are 23 signed up now for kindergarten roundup on April 26th.  
 Koehler says he gave the board a transportation report, which he says is an annual update on maintenance and mileage on the district’s vehicles.  (play audio   :22)
 The cost of the new Thomas bus is $82,968.
 In other action Monday, the Johnson-Brock School Board approved a contract with Principal Jacque Kelsay for the 2013-14 School Year, with a salary increase of $3500.
 The board extended Koehler’s contract through the 2015-16 School Year.  Koehler’s salary was increased $2500 for the 2013-14 School Year.
 The board voted to support the Teammates mentoring program in Johnson-Brock School District.  The Teammates program will replace Big Brothers Big Sisters. 
 And the board approved the school calendar for the next school year.  Classes will begin on August 15th with the last day of class May 20, 2014.  Graduation will be May 17, 2014, which Koehler says is a week later than graduation is usually held in the Johnson-Brock School District.
