Falls City School District asking Farmers to Apply for Monsanto Grant
03/25/2013

(KTNC) - The Falls City School District is looking for nominations from area farmers for a grant from Monsanto.  Farmers can nominate the school district for an “America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Grant” until April 15th.
The number of nominations the school receives will be part of the criteria used to determine if District 56 gets the grant, which can be for up to $25,000.
According to Falls City Schools’ Technology and Curriculum Coordinator, Judi Carter, the district would use the grant funds to provide a set of iPads for students at North and South Elementary Schools.
Carter says UNL Extension Assistant Jami Ankrom will work with the elementary schools’ staff to teach lessons combining math, science, and agriculture.
Grant nominations can be made online at
www.americasfarmers.com or by calling 1-877-267-3332.
Falls City High School won a $25,000 grant through the program last year.
