(KTNC) - There will be fireworks – or at least a discussion of fireworks – at a special session of the Mound City Board of Aldermen. The meeting will be held at City Hall at 5:30 Tuesday evening.
Aldermen will meet with attorney Rick McConnell for a discussion about Tax Increment Financing and other economic development programs.
They will also discuss the sale of fireworks in city limits, specifically restrictions on where fireworks may be sold.
Last month, the council authorized City Attorney Brian Tubbs to draft an ordinance allowing fireworks to be sold in Mound City. That action came after Judy Howard and her daughter, Holly, told the council they would like to construct a building in town from which they would sell fireworks. Current Mound City ordinances prohibit the sale of fireworks.
The proposed ordinance would allow fireworks to be sold within a permanent structure. Aldermen will likely consider the ordinance at their regular August meeting.
A closed session is also planned as part of Tuesday’s meeting.
